U.S. Senate candidate: Liberty City shootings prove need for assault weapons ban
> Posted by Anthony Man at 11:39 AM U.S. Rep. Kendrick Meek said today that last weeks shooting in Miami that left seven injured and two dead shows the need for reinstating the federal ban on assault weapons. We I think we should go back to the assault weapons ban, just for the very reason to prevent what happened the day before yesterday, he said this morning in a brief interview. Meek, who represents part of South Broward, has a unique perspective: He represents the Liberty City section of Miami, where the shootings took place. Hes a former Florida Highway Patrol officer. Hes seeking the Democratic nomination for U.S. Senate next year and many voters in more rural parts of the state dont like anything that smacks of gun control. The assault weapons ban was allowed to expire during the Bush presidency and efforts to renew it werent successful. Meek said he favored renewing the ban. Meek said hes spoken about the shooting with the police, Miami Mayor Manny Diaz and community leaders. Ive talked with some community groups about the fact that we cannot allow this kind of violence to continue. Definitely when you have these AK-47s in the hands of individuals that are undesirables are something that should not be tolerated. Of course it needs to be dealt with more sooner than later because it goes to show you with those high-powered rifles in the wrong hands, it can definitely bring about the loss of life that we just experienced. POSTED IN: Kendrick Meek (13) http://weblogs.sun-sentinel.com/news...erty_ci_1.html here is one you can vote on if you want to ban semi fire arms Miami Fla. Re: Miami FL
Yes Kendrick Meek, blame the gun and not the fact that Miami is one giant third world hell hole. That makes a lot of sense.

Re: Miami FL
And here this whole time I was under the assumption that a fully automatic AK was illegal without special licensing anyways?
Who would have thought that psycho criminals break laws and go and get full auto AK's in a hell hole like Miami? |
